The Royal Oak lies in East Lavant – a classic Sussex downland village, complete with flint-walled thatched cottages and a 13th Century church, at the foot of the South Downs.
We’re an ideal base if you’re attending the races or motorsport events at Goodwood, which is less than 10 minutes from us. The same distance south is the ancient city of Chichester, home to one of Britain’s most glorious medieval cathedrals, and the world-class Chichester Festival Theatre.
The South Downs – which became Britain’s newest National Park in 2011 – provide fantastic opportunities for walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding and other outdoor pursuits. The South Downs Way, which runs for over 100 miles from Winchester to Eastbourne, crosses the Downs a few miles north of The Royal Oak. If you’re into watersports, Chichester Harbour offers some of the best sailing on the South Coast. Click here to discover what’s going on in the local area.
Best all, however you choose to spend your day, we’ll have great food and wine, convivial company and a snug, comfortable room waiting for you here at The Royal Oak.
Go out and work up an appetite.
